Handicare 1000 Straight Stairlift

With one of the slimmest straight stairlift tracks on the market, the Handicare 1000 offers minimal track intrusion into the staircase.

This slimline aluminium track has a hidden rack with two park points as standard so the battery can be charged at the top or bottom of the stairs. It can also be supplied with a powered hinge to prevent the track obscuring a doorway at the base of the stairs.

The 1000 straight stairlift comes as standard with a (manual) fold away footrest, seat and arms meaning the lift takes up less room when not in use, allowing more space for other stair users. 

The Smart Seat delivers a choice of six upholstery colours and optional powered features to turn the seat at the top of the staircase or fold the footrest after use.

The Handicare 1000 boasts our heaviest weight capacity:

  • the 1000 offers 137kg / 21½st,
  • the 1000XL 160kg / 25st
  • the XXL 200kg / 31½st.

Both the XL and the XXL are supplied with additional arm spacers to increase the distance between the arms.

Seat Colour Options

With a choice of six colours, the Smart seat’s practical pre-formed upholstery provides a sturdy and resilient seat solution. Compatible Also with our twin tube curved stairlift system the Smart seat can be supplied with optional powered features to remove the need for bending to fold a footrest or turning to swivel the seat when getting on or off the stairlift upstairs.

Perch seat option

If you have restricted movement in the knee or hip joints you may find sitting painful. In these situations a Perch seat may be the best solution for you.

A Perch seat means that the user is almost in a standing position when they are using the lift. There is a shortened seat (and retractable seat belt) which provides a stable support area for users to ‘perch’ on. This means that Perch Seats may also provide a solution for particularly narrow staircases where a user would not have room to travel in a seated position.

Upholstery is available in a choice of six colours.

Will the stairlift take up too much space on my staircase?

What is the maximum weight capacity for this stairlift?

This model offers the heaviest weight capacities in our range to accommodate various needs. While the standard 1000 model supports 137kg, the 1000XL can hold 160kg, and the XXL version supports up to 200kg. The XL and XXL versions also include additional arm spacers to increase the distance between the arms for extra comfort.

I struggle with sitting down or have a very narrow staircase; is there a solution?

Yes, we offer a "Perch seat" option for users with restricted knee or hip movement who find a traditional sitting position painful. This seat allows you to use the lift in a near-standing position and is also an excellent solution for exceptionally narrow staircases where a standard seated position would not fit.

How does the battery charge and what if a doorway is at the bottom of the stairs?

If you have a doorway at the base of your stairs, an optional powered hinged rail can be installed to fold the track away, providing clear access to the door.
